Dr. Parikh was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He began his training at The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with Special Honors in Biochemistry. Dr. Parikh received a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from The University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He completed three years of General Psychiatry Residency training at The University of Kansas Medical Center where he received the Hellings Award for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Parikh completed a final year of postgraduate training in Austin, Texas as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Resident.
Dr. Parikh is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he specializes in treating adolescents and adults with psychiatric illness. Dr. Parikh has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Dr. Parikh is an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Department of Psychiatry. He regularly presents lectures to medical students and supervises psychiatry residents. Dr. Parikh is also a full-time staff psychiatrist at the Dallas VA Medical Center where he treats our returning soldiers and veterans. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented research findings at national conferences. Dr. Parikh is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.
